Kaleena Ma

Kaleena Ma is an accomplished optician and family business owner with more than two decades of experience in the optical retail industry. She is the Owner and Optician of MK Vision Center, where she has focused on providing personalized eyewear services and helping clients find the right frames and lenses for their individual needs. She earned a BA in Anthropology from Franklin & Marshall College and an Associate’s degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing from CUNY New York City College of Technology, combining her academic background with extensive hands-on experience in optical care and retail.

Since beginning her optical career in 2004, Kaleena has held a variety of roles, including lens technician, salesperson, contact lens specialist, president, and administrator. She has played an important role in her family’s optical business, which was founded by her father in 1979 and later expanded by her mother. Today, Kaleena helps oversee a network of nine optical stores in the New York City area, with responsibilities spanning store operations, human resources, hiring, employee development, doctor rotations, inventory, and customer service. Her work emphasizes both eyewear and eye health, with optometrists serving patients across the family’s locations.

A strong advocate for personalized service and community connection, Kaleena takes pride in helping grow the family business while carrying forward her father’s legacy. She has been particularly involved in developing the Forest Hills location, building relationships within the Queens community, and navigating the business through challenges such as the COVID-19 period and a store relocation. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Kaleena values family, mentorship, fitness, reading, writing, and spending time with her children. She credits loyalty, compromise, delegation, and time management as important principles in balancing leadership, family, and business, and she remains focused on sustainable growth and continuing her family’s legacy in the optical industry.
