Her Story

About Kalie

I've been in my field for over 7 years. Currently I'm a board-certified behavior analyst at ABA Foundation for a little over 2 years. Growing up I was always interested in behavior and how people work. I was exposed to this field in college and decided to build a career out of it. My key responsibilities include supervising staff, creating programs, communicating with parents and teachers, and providing caregiver training in various settings like clinics, homes, and the community.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kalie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I'm always willing to learn from past mistakes or from the clients, parents, and teachers I work with. I listen first before giving suggestions or advice. Listening goes a long way because a lot of times they just want to be heard.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Being open to new opportunities and doing it scared sometimes. A next step might be scary or difficult, but being open to that new opportunity can lead to more than you would have realized.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Explore all the avenues and all your options, taking every opportunity that is offered so that you can get a sense of which area within the field you want to contribute to. There's a lot of ways you can apply the ABA and this field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Making sure everyone's on the same page for the benefit of the client because differing opinions might cause tension or you might lose rapport with the family and have to rebuild trust.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, collaboration, and doing something with joy.
