Her Story

About Kam

Kam King serves as Program Coordinator at Bridge Air in Glendale, Arizona. She entered the aviation field in 2023 after initially pursuing a flight attendant role at multiple airlines, including Mesa Airlines, without success. A friend encouraged her to try crew scheduling, which led to recruiting at Mesa Airlines and eventually her current position following a company merger. In her role, Kam handles recruiting duties, administration, and building pathways with schools to help pilots obtain flight hours through an accelerated program that allows them to fly significantly more hours per month than traditional methods. She finds great satisfaction in seeing pilots achieve their goals and reach first officer positions, with over 100 pilots placed from the program since September 2025. Kam is currently enrolled at Purdue Global, working toward a degree focused on management with expected completion in 2028. As a woman and minority in a male-dominated field, she attributes her success to a mindset of proving others wrong and creating visibility and lanes for other girls who look like her. In her personal life, she values making a better life for her autistic daughter by opening up experiences and opportunities for her.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kam

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think I just have a mindset of people assuming that I can't, so I feel like I have a point to prove, being that I am a woman and I'm also a minority. I have to work twice as hard. It's very rewarding to show that it's capable. Other girls can also do this, because sometimes that's all we have to see, is just someone that looks like you doing it. To be able to get out there and put myself out there and do some things that I have never seen done before myself. It's just being able to create that avenue, that visibility, and that lane for other girls that look like me to be able to have that to know that they can do it, too.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Don't let them make you feel less than. You are just as capable as they are, or else you wouldn't be in that same room. It could be intimidating working in a male-dominated field, but you definitely have to change your mindset and understand that I can be here, too. I deserve to be here, too. Don't back down from where you are. Don't let them intimidate you, and don't back down, just keep going.

03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

What I value most in my work life is the satisfaction of seeing pilots reach their goals. Being able to help them or give them guidance on where to go or what to do to become a pilot is really satisfying. In my personal life, my greatest goals is obviously just trying to make a better life for my daughter, wanting her to have the greatest experiences, being that she is autistic. A lot of things are limited to her, so I do kind of want to be able to open that up for her as much as I can.
