About Kamila
Kamila Nery serves as a customs clearance specialist, handling import documentation, tariffs, and duties for clients bringing goods into the United States. She prepares all necessary paperwork for presentation to CBP and supports clients in securing cargo release at ports. With more than 8 years in the supply chain field, Nery previously spent 7 years as an import assistant in logistics in Brazil before moving to the US as an au pair for two and a half years. She later earned a degree in IT with a focus on data management from a US college. Nery began her customs work at the same Brazilian company upon graduation, spending nine months there before joining her current large employer. She attributes her professional success to advice emphasizing the importance of understanding why tasks are performed and their broader impact, which helps her adapt to frequent tariff changes. Nery values honesty, maintaining an open mind, and continuous learning, even in areas outside her direct responsibilities. She volunteers with the Society of Human Engineers and her church food pantry and services. Her advice to young women entering the industry is to treat everyone as a client, prioritize networking, and maintain connections with former colleagues.
