About Kanani

I am a nonprofit and philanthropic leader with over a decade of experience in fundraising, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, currently serving as Director of Annual Giving and Major Gifts at The WRK Group, a role I have held since September 2025, where I lead the development and execution of institutional advancement strategies including fundraising, signature and large-scale events, strategic partnerships, and volunteerism, and build the culture of philanthropy and engagement to sustain the collective mission of The WRK Group, including The Warehouse, REACH Riverside, and Kingswood Community Center.

Prior to this role, I served as Director of Engagement at Philanthropy Delaware for nearly three years, where I led the organization's strategic engagement initiatives to expand membership and evolve the Educational Sessions of Philanthropic Practice program offerings, enhanced the member experience to foster retention and growth, led the development and execution of signature programming and member convening opportunities, and built brand awareness through establishing key strategic partnerships. I also served as Executive Director of the Governor's Commission on Community and Volunteer Service for the State of Delaware for nearly five years, where I led the State Office of Volunteerism, overseeing a three-point-four-million-dollar budget and a team of nineteen, oversaw federal grant applications and programs funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, and increased knowledge and participation in volunteerism and National Service.

Earlier in my career, I served as Owner and Civic Engagement Strategist and Coach at Women of Wellness, LLC for nine years, where I supported women in living to their full potential through consulting, advocacy, wellness coaching, and empowerment programs. I also spent over seven years at United Way of Delaware in progressively responsible roles, including Assistant Director of Community Relations for nearly three years, Assistant Director of Community Engagement for over four years, and Senior Associate of Resource Development for six months, where I managed corporate leadership giving campaigns, developed community relations strategies, and led the launch and maintenance of Student United Ways at colleges and universities statewide.

I hold a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit, Public, and Organizational Leadership from Widener University with a 3.74 GPA and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit and National Service Leadership from the University of Washington's Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.

Across my career in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, and community engagement, my work has been driven by a commitment to building strategic partnerships, advancing philanthropy, and creating meaningful impact in communities. Whether I am leading fundraising initiatives, engaging stakeholders, or developing volunteer programs, I bring a strategic, collaborative, and results-driven approach that has made a lasting impact on the organizations and communities I serve. I am proud of the work I have done throughout my career and excited to continue advancing the mission of The WRK Group through philanthropy and community engagement.
