Kandise Finley is a dedicated nursing educator and mentor with a strong background in clinical practice and higher education. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Nursing at Northwest Florida State College, she is passionate about preparing the next generation of nurses through evidence-based teaching strategies, engaging instruction, and mentorship that bridges classroom learning with real-world application. Her approach emphasizes critical thinking, professional growth, and building confidence in future healthcare providers, all while fostering resilience, wellness, and self-leadership.
Throughout her career, Kandise has held a variety of roles in healthcare and education, including nursing instructor positions at Okaloosa Technical College and Jefferson Davis Community College, as well as clinical roles in oncology and rehabilitation nursing. Her extensive experience allows her to create supportive, interactive learning environments where students can thrive both academically and personally. Known for her ability to connect with students, she brings creativity, humor, and empathy into the classroom to make learning both meaningful and memorable.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Kandise has navigated a transformative personal health journey, losing over 200 pounds, which has deepened her appreciation for perseverance, wellness, and self-care. She champions work-life balance and encourages her students to prioritize their well-being, understanding that the care they provide to others is only as strong as the care they extend to themselves. The biggest challenge in my field is the low compensation, but the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and witness others succeed keeps me motivated.
