About Karely
I am a junior at Washington State University pursuing a dual degree in history and political science. I just completed my history degree and am finishing my political science degree this year. My end goal is to attend law school, and I am currently studying for the LSAT. Originally, I had planned to go to medical school, but after being rejected, I realized that law was equally meaningful to me and better aligned with my strengths in reading and writing rather than science. I have gained practical experience through an internship at a law firm and currently work as a library assistant at my school library. I serve as Vice Chair for Mecha, a club connected to the United Farmworkers movement that focuses on activism and awareness for Hispanic students and minorities across high schools and universities. This role is deeply meaningful to me because it keeps me connected to my community and helps pave my pathway to becoming a full activist when I enter my career as a lawyer. I am proud to be the first person in my family to go to college, setting an example for my four sisters. My family pushed me to pursue higher education, and while I initially didn't see the point, I now realize how important it is to get a degree, especially in the current state of things. On a typical day, I attend classes, go to club meetings or individual meetings, and complete my homework. Outside of school and work, I enjoy nature activities like hiking and swimming, watching TV shows, hanging out with friends, and going on trips.
