Karen Bryant serves as the Community Engagement Manager and Small Business Educational Program Manager at the Better Business Bureau in San Diego, California. She has been in her role for 4 years, where she oversees the organization's event space and manages a 12-week small business accelerator program, providing resources such as access to capital, legal help, and marketing to help businesses scale. Bryant's career began in hospitality and customer service, leading her to earn a degree in event management and start her own event planning business, Divine Lifestyles Events, which specialized in weddings and special events. Her expertise lies in event planning, hospitality, and small business education. She attributes her success to her mother's teachings on kindness and prioritizing people, which she applies especially in her nonprofit work. Bryant is actively involved with Cause San Diego and draws inspiration from connecting with people from all walks of life.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Definitely my mom has always been an inspiration. She has always taught us to be kind no matter what. That has bled into everything that I do as a person. I believe that leads to success especially in working with nonprofits because it's gotta be the people first.
