Her Story

About Karen

I worked in the corporate world after college for a number of years, and then I went and worked in physical therapy for 10 years, where I specialized in functional manual therapy and spent 10 years hands-on, literally hands-on, wiring and rewiring people's physical and mental patterns and behavioral scripts. Then I came back to the corporate world doing coaching and consulting all over the United States. In every business at every level, I saw the same thing and was having the same conversation: the way we feel affects the way that we lead and live. So I started my business a few years ago to pair executive coaching and corporate leadership development with this concept of the physical self. We work in four different areas - physical wellness, mental wellness, communication, and time - because they're interrelated. When I started incorporating this into our work, it started to really make a pretty profound impact for people, and I was invited to the Vatican, where I finished with a standing ovation because we spend a lot of time talking about how we sit, and how we stand, and how we breathe, and how we move, and then how that impacts our journey as leaders but also as humans and our experience of time. Over the last 5 years, we have worked with Fortune 500, Fortune 100 companies and executives, as well as royalty and celebrities around the world. We work with people who just want to be the highest, strongest version of themselves, or they want to resolve pain either for themselves or for the people around them at work because it's impacting how they're showing up. I also taught as an adjunct professor for the graduate program at MBC, teaching management, leadership, and communication for a graduate school for two and a half years.

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to love. My parents were amazing human beings, and my gift to the world is love, and I believe in true unconditional love. I think that the thing that our clients really feel when they come to us for coaching, and why my business has been successful, is because I believe in working with people that I'm happy to treat like family, and I already want to see them win. When they come in to be our clients, and the other coaches that work with me and my company, and my admin team, anybody who comes in to work with this company, I'm like, you have to know that I love this company, I love our clients, and I love what we get to do, and so we're going to treat them like family, and we're gonna take care of them, and help them, and challenge them to be the highest, best version of themselves. Having a culture that understands that that's a true core value - that's why, like, my core values, love is number one. When we do things with love, it just... things bloom and grow there.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've received is to honor your purpose and your personality, you know, like, the things that you're good at. There's that old saying, you know, like, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. And I don't know that I believe that that's true, because I work hard every day, but because I genuinely love what I get to do and who I get to spend my time with, it makes work so easy. I wake up and I'm honored and privileged and grateful every day that I get to do this. So, I think that it's kind of some variation of, you know, do what you love and what comes naturally, because it just makes it easy to go to work every day.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Take care of yourself. Know yourself, and take care of your physical self, because the reason we incorporate the Falkler Formula into all of that physical wellness, mental wellness, communication, and time is because when we take care of ourselves and we honor ourself, it makes it really easy to set boundaries, honor our time, honor what is and is not too much. I see so many women, and so many women that I have coached, have gone through our program, you know, they come in and they're so busy taking care of everybody else that they struggle to take care of themselves. So it's really saying, like, it's okay to put yourself first, it's okay to prioritize time for you so that you can, you know, so that your children can see that, so that your other female friends and peers can see that. And also to remember to ask for help when you need it, because we're great at offering it. But sometimes, you know, we have to remember to ask for help, and have a coach. It's always good. I've had a coach the whole time, and that has been really helpful.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

I would say every day my biggest challenge is I always feel like I wish I could do more faster. And so I think that that is also where there is tremendous opportunity, as well, to serve a larger and larger audience. To bring these services to more people, you know, as we grow and learn and get stronger, and continue to build our team with people who understand and are willing and excited to do the same, to help build a better, stronger world.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
