About Karen

Karen Washington serves as Community Relations Specialist at Archwell Health in St. Louis. In this role for over three and a half years, she builds partnerships with local organizations and promotes events to connect seniors aged 65 and older with value-based Medicare care close to home. She brings 23 to 24 years of experience in health marketing and promotion, having previously worked over 30 years in city government. This included 20 years at the City of St. Louis Department of Health, where she conducted health promotions for HIV and STDs, served as a Ryan White case manager, and addressed chronic illnesses through a holistic approach. She later worked in public safety as a neighborhood improvement specialist and interim director before returning to health-focused work. Washington earned her bachelor's degree in human service management from the University of Phoenix and her master's degree in counseling education from Lindenwood University after initially entering the workforce with only a high school diploma. She also completed coursework at UMSL through the Neighborhood Leadership Fellows program. Her achievements include maintaining honor roll status during both undergraduate and graduate studies, as well as receiving a resolution and proclamation from the City of St. Louis.
