About Karey
Karey Lee serves as Regional Vice President of Business Development for Encompass Health, overseeing 23 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals in Florida and Puerto Rico. She joined the company in 2015 after it acquired the hospital where she had worked since 2007 in Savannah, Georgia, and she relocated to the Tampa, Florida area. Lee began her career in business development, advancing from director to area director before assuming her current vice president role in 2021. With more than 20 years in the healthcare field, she holds a strong commitment to patient-centered care, inspired by her grandmother's experience in a nursing home. She earned an undergraduate degree and began but did not complete a master's program due to family responsibilities. Outside of work, Lee volunteers with special needs adults through ARC of Tampa, supports Door of Hope for foster children, and contributes to her church's apprentices and overseas ministries. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, collaboration, and mentoring others to advance in their careers.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
Just be willing to do the work. It's not always a 9-to-5 job. It's not about your ego, it's not about you, it's about the people who work with you. There's an obligation as you move up in positions to help them figure out how to move up as well.
