About Kari

Kari Borroel, MBA is a strategic global executive leader specializing in business transformation, operational excellence, and learning and technology-enabled solutions. She currently serves as Head of Operations Quality Learning and Development at AstraZeneca, where she leads global strategy, design, and execution of regulated GxP learning programs across operations, quality, and commercial functions. In this role, she oversees enterprise learning governance, compliance training systems, and capability-building initiatives that integrate people, process, and technology to drive organizational performance and regulatory excellence. Throughout her career, Kari has built extensive experience leading large-scale transformation initiatives across life sciences, healthcare, and enterprise learning organizations. Prior to her current role, she held senior leadership positions at Alexion Pharmaceuticals, where she directed quality learning, documentation, and digital quality management system (QMS) strategy. She has also served in consulting and leadership roles with organizations including Performance Development Group, Aasonn, and First Data Corporation, consistently focusing on global learning strategy, organizational development, and performance improvement across distributed teams and complex operating environments. Kari earned her Master of Business Administration from Boston University Questrom School of Business and holds additional leadership training credentials from the Project Management Institute. She is actively engaged in industry leadership and governance, including roles with The Boston Club, where she contributes to advancing women’s leadership and organizational impact.
