Her Story
About Karie
I've always loved psychology and initially considered getting a PhD in marriage counseling, but I didn't want to work with people on the brink of divorce, so life just took over and I figured out what resonates with me. I've been teaching for the last 8 years here in the U.S. and abroad as an English teacher, and I came back and I'm still an ELL teacher for a community college here. I still love it - it's a passion of mine. I just want to keep teaching others my knowledge and expertise and sharing my nourishing heart, because I feel like I have a big heart, and I want to share it with others. God gave us that quality, and I just need to continue sharing and showing it. Now I'm focusing on life coaching, working with people who have lost loved ones through my Becoming Whole Again workshop and one-on-one coaching. I recently lost my mother, which has deeply informed my work in grief counseling.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I think having personal experience is really important, not just professional experience, so that you can really dig deep into whatever that concept or topic is. Personal experience, I think, is as important as professional experience. And just really be passionate about whatever you like, because you spend so much time with that passion for that thing, you should enjoy it a little bit, or a lot.
