Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kasey
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to my family, who continue to be my greatest motivation and inspiration. My children are at the center of everything I do, and I am driven by the desire to provide them with opportunities and experiences that I may not have had growing up. My family remains my focus and gives me the determination to work hard, grow professionally, and build a life that allows me to create meaningful memories, travel to see loved ones, and give my children the best opportunities possible. I have learned about being a good person through my father who showed me what kind of person i wanted to be when i was an adult. Although he has made bad decisions in the past, he thought me that one bad decision does not define who you are and does not hold you back from achieving your goals as long as your heart and mind are put forward to achieve what you want to achieve.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
When i entered business development, I was told TRY everything. Learning the ins and out of the whole department that way you can learn and grow and move up in your professional journey. Because of this i didn't box myself off in any one area. I tried everything and by doing do i was better at my job and grew professionally.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to never give up on themselves or their goals. Set a clear objective, remain committed to it, and understand that challenges and hardships are a natural part of any journey. When you are passionate and willing to put your heart into your work, you can find the strength and resilience to overcome difficult circumstances. My own experiences have shaped me, but they do not define me. I chose to rise above the examples I witnessed growing up, and I encourage other women to believe in their potential, stay true to themselves, and have the courage to create the life and future they envision.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field right now is the ever changing federal environment. The biggest opportunity in my field right now is the ability to learn and grow in business development understanding new agencies, departments, and federal government.
