Her Story
About Kat
Kat Lang is a nursing student at Robert Morris University, pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Pre-Nursing Studies with a minor in Health Administration. Alongside her studies, she serves as a Marketing & Program Assistant at the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management at RMU, where she creates event materials, manages LinkedIn content, promotes programs, and helps build corporate connections.
Kat’s interest in nursing was inspired by her experiences supporting her younger brother, who has special needs. Through frequent hospital and medical visits, she witnessed the compassion and kindness of nurses, motivating her to pursue a career focused on helping others. She also brings strong leadership and teamwork experience through her role as a volunteer coach with the Beaver County Ice Sharks Special Hockey Association and her involvement in youth ministry.
Beyond academics and professional responsibilities, Kat is committed to community involvement and advocacy. She has expressed interest in becoming more involved with Pittsburgh Cares and Adoption Connection and supporting foster care advocacy. Her experiences in leadership, community service, marketing, and caregiving have helped shape her dedication to making a positive impact, particularly in the lives of children, families, and individuals with special needs.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the leadership experience I gained through a youth group and the guidance of my mentor, Megan Nachchinsky, who encouraged me to become a confident leader. My experiences in nursing school and throughout my education taught me to ask questions, work hard, embrace challenges, and learn from every opportunity.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering the industry is to never be afraid to ask questions and work hard. You will face mental and academic challenges, but with determination and a positive attitude, you can overcome them and enjoy the journey.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I value community involvement, meaningful connections, and giving back to others. Being involved with organizations such as the Bayer Center, Pittsburgh Cares, and Adoption Connection reflects my commitment to supporting my community, advocating for foster care, and making a positive impact in the lives of others.
