Ten minutes with Kat
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to perseverance, resilience, and a commitment to helping others. My 20+ years in healthcare and the many roles I have held have taught me the importance of accountability, adaptability, and continuous growth. Most importantly, I refuse to give up. I embrace challenges as opportunities to learn, grow, and become a stronger leader.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
I was also taught that leadership is not about having a title; it is about how you treat people, how you respond when things are difficult, and the example you set for others. I have carried that lesson throughout my career. I try to lead with integrity, remain accountable, and always look for opportunities to improve. My career has continued to evolve because I have been willing to step outside of my comfort zone, take on new challenges, and continue pursuing education and personal growth.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering healthcare is to believe in yourself, know your worth, and never be afraid to use your voice. Seek mentors, continue learning, and embrace opportunities that push you outside of your comfort zone. There will be setbacks, but each challenge is an opportunity to grow. Most importantly, lead with confidence, integrity, compassion, and authenticity. You do not have to change who you are to be successful.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in healthcare today is staffing and finding competent, qualified employees. Maintaining adequate staffing levels while ensuring that team members have the skills, knowledge, and commitment needed to provide quality care can be difficult. I see an opportunity to strengthen healthcare by investing in staff development, education, and retention while building a culture of accountability and excellence.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
I believe in treating people with respect, doing what is right even when it is difficult, and taking responsibility for my actions. In both my work and personal life, I strive to lead by example, continue growing, and never give up when faced with challenges.
