About Kate
Kate Huezo is a Product Designer with expertise in UX design and user experience. She studied art from a young age and later added psychology to her studies, finding that user experience design naturally combined these interests. After moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, she worked in two startups that were acquired, one by Microsoft and another by the Fortune 500 company YSTEC. With about 10 years in product design, Kate is now building her own consultancy and design agency to create opportunities for other women in the industry. She also mentors at Native Cafe in San Francisco and is developing a startup focused on mental wellness through a journaling app that helps users shift perspective. Kate attributes her success to having an open mind and different perspectives gained from studying abroad, which helps her design for diverse users with varying preferences and outlooks.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Having different perspectives and an open mind. I studied abroad which helped me see other cultures and understand that in design there are multiple ways to use software. Being open-minded culturally and technically really helped, especially when designing for thousands of users with different preferences and outlooks.
