01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would say that first of all really good advice is to do the next right thing. Sometimes when you see a project that's really big it feels completely overwhelming but if you just do the next right thing you'll slowly get there. And I'd also say that if you are sitting at the table with people who are more experienced than you or you feel like they have it more together than you do that it's just to remember that we're all human and probably all people have been in the same boat and have felt like they don't know what to do. And that even despite that feeling that comes up sometimes to just keep moving on because along the way it's worth just pushing past the feeling and to keep going and not lose your confidence because of sometimes feeling like an imposter.
02What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities is that people are growing really exhausted of having to spend so much money on travel to the point that people aren't able to travel anymore. Airbnb used to be a platform when it first came out where it felt like it was cheaper than hotels. Now it's not cheaper than hotels anymore. Public exchange is recognizing the affiliates in a way for travel. They're staying in each other's homes instead of paying for hotels and it is a fraction of the price. I really believe that it's going to be the new wave of travel because it's so inexpensive it's just allowing a whole population of people who travel that maybe had to stop traveling because it just has gotten too expensive. My company has a few differentiators. One is that you're able to get better vacations by giving to nonprofits. But one of the other things is that you can host guest rooms so people can stay at the room and you can get points for that so you're able to travel with that.
