Kate Nickerson

Kate Nickerson serves as a Tax Partner at RSM, the fifth largest accounting firm in the country, based in Des Moines, Iowa. With just under 13 years of experience in the field, she works primarily with closely held and privately held businesses, along with their shareholders, often family members. Her expertise encompasses tax planning, succession planning, estate planning, and broader business advisory services for family-owned businesses. A certified public accountant, Nickerson earned her undergraduate degree in accounting and marketing from the University of Iowa before sitting for and passing the CPA exam shortly after graduation. She made partner at RSM Des Moines this past year, becoming only the second female tax partner in the office's 70-year history. Outside her client work, she leads the STAR women's group at RSM Des Moines, focused on stewardship, teamwork, advancement, and retention of females, and serves as treasurer and board member of the Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Central Iowa.
