What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God. My faith has been a constant source of strength, guidance, and purpose throughout my personal and professional journey. It grounds me in challenging times and inspires me to lead with integrity, compassion, and resilience.
What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received came from a Non-Commissioned Officer during my time in the Air Force. He told me, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you need to leave the room.” That stuck with me. It taught me the importance of surrounding myself with people who challenge me, push me to grow, and expand my perspective.
What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
The advice I’d give to young women entering my industry is this: don’t be intimidated by others. Everyone’s path is different, and creativity is not a straight line. Embrace your unique perspective, trust your instincts, and know that your voice and ideas have value—even when the journey doesn’t look like anyone else’s.
What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field right now is the limitation of funding, especially in the nonprofit sector where every dollar must be maximized for impact. Working for an all-nonprofit organization means constantly finding innovative ways to stretch resources while still delivering high-quality services. At the same time, this challenge presents an opportunity to build stronger community partnerships, advocate for increased support, and creatively reimagine how we fulfill our mission.
What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, family, and perseverance. Faith guides my decisions and provides strength during challenges. Family keeps me grounded and reminds me of what truly matters. Perseverance drives me to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles, ensuring that I stay committed to my goals and responsibilities.
