About Katelyn

She is a distinguished clinical and translational scientist and academic leader with over a decade of experience in biomedical research, molecular and translational toxicology, and medical education, with a strong focus on environmental health sciences and cardiovascular disease. Currently serving as Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Florida and Research Collaborator at Mayo Clinic, she advances research and clinical care at the intersection of cardiovascular disease, immunology, and human health. She completed her PhD in Environmental Health Sciences with a focus on Molecular and Translational Toxicology at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where her research was mentored by Dr. DeLisa Fairweather. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Sam Houston State University, where she graduated with Highest Honors, Magna Cum Laude, and Academic Distinction in Chemistry, and also has a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University. She is recognized as a dedicated, rigorous, and collaborative researcher and educator who is deeply committed to advancing scientific knowledge, training the next generation of medical professionals and scientists, and improving patient outcomes through innovative research.
