Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katherine
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the mentorship and support I received from both Rob Mote and Bradley Brown at At Home Corporate, who helped connect me with my role at Dollar General and continued to guide me. I now strive to pay that support forward by mentoring team members, helping colleagues navigate technology, and creating opportunities for others to learn and succeed. I believe that no one achieves success alone, and I'm grateful for the people who helped shape my journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to start by listening. Take the time to truly understand people, their challenges, and the goals they are trying to achieve before jumping to solutions. The most meaningful and lasting solutions come from collaboration, not from trying to solve everything on your own. Build relationships, be curious, and never stop learning. True influence comes from creating positive change, helping others succeed, and focusing outward rather than only on yourself. When you approach your work with a mindset of service and continuous improvement, you'll make a greater impact.
03What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Helping others, especially during difficult times, is one of the values that guides both my work and personal life. Through lay counseling at my church, I find purpose in offering support, compassion, and encouragement to those who are struggling. That experience has reinforced the importance of empathy, active listening, and meeting people where they are. Beyond that, I value integrity, service, and continuous growth. I believe in treating people with respect, following through on commitments, and using my skills to make a positive impact.
