Her Story

About Katherine

Katherine Butler serves as servicing manager for a private lender specializing in non-traditional mortgages. With over a decade in finance and nearly five years focused on non-QM lending, she oversees post-closing client support, loan boarding, and transfers while championing technology adoption. Butler previously spent five and a half years at Wells Fargo advancing from teller to business banking, briefly explored medical sales, and held a prior servicing role handling construction loans. She earned an Associate's in Psychology from Dade and is completing dual Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Interdisciplinary Studies at FIU plus a Certificate in Gender and Women's Studies. Additional credentials include Scrum certification, Florida teaching certification, and early interventionist certification. Fluent in Spanish, Butler was the sole Spanish-speaking banker across three states during her Wells Fargo tenure. Her notable achievement includes migrating manual Excel-based loan tracking to Monday.com with AI-driven automations, granting her company its first automated visibility into hundreds of loans and paving the way for CRM development. She has volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Habitat for Humanity, and Our Mother's House through Capital Charities, drawing from her own experiences as a first-generation American and single mother.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would say to go in with an open mind and ready to learn. The biggest thing that I've learned while in this industry is that it's ever-changing. What could be 100% okay today could be totally different tomorrow. The best way to work in these environments, because they're very fast-paced and very high volume, is to be ready to learn and be the person that's ready to say yes. Be the person that's ready to take on a task that you don't understand, or just kind of throw yourself into the trenches.
