About Kathleen
Kathleen Falk serves as General Manager of FloTX Utilities LLC in San Antonio, Texas, where she leads the company’s strategic growth and day-to-day operations. With a career in commercial construction dating back to 2017, Kathleen brings experience across civil construction, heavy civil utility installations, estimating, project management, and business development. In April 2026, she stepped into the role of General Manager for the Texas-based utility construction startup, helping build an organization focused on water, wastewater, storm infrastructure, and other underground utility projects.
Throughout her career, Kathleen has progressed through roles including Project Coordinator, Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Project Estimator, developing a strong understanding of projects from estimating and bidding through field execution and closeout. At FloTX Utilities, she oversees strategic growth, estimating, contract negotiations, project execution, cost control, financial performance, crew development, and client relationships. She is known for leading by example with respect and integrity and for emphasizing safety, operational excellence, strong partnerships, and dependable project delivery. Her educational background includes an associate degree from Jefferson College and a bachelor's degree in Finance from Western Governors University, and she plans to begin a master's degree program in September 2026.
Beyond her professional achievements, Kathleen takes pride in balancing her career with her family life and is especially proud of being able to give both the proper attention they deserve. She is a mother of five and enjoys spending time with her children, riding horses, and pursuing her longtime passion for Thoroughbreds, which has included training and breeding them. Kathleen also supports equal rights and humanitarian causes, reflecting her belief in treating people with fairness, dignity, and respect. As she continues expanding FloTX Utilities, she remains focused on sustainable growth, meaningful relationships, and building a strong organization grounded in integrity and excellence.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to being driven and believing in myself. I show up and try to do a good job everyday.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received is to think carefully before speaking. Not every thought needs to be shared, and learning when to listen, observe, and choose my words thoughtfully has helped me build stronger professional relationships and make better decisions.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
If you get your foot in the door and it's not what you wanted, lean into the relationships you build & remember the human connection.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
There's so much construction happening right now and the biggest challenge is knowing what our limitations are while figuring out how to get to where we want to be as a company in ten years without overextending ourselves.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Balance is the most important value to me in my work and personal life.
