About Kathleen
Kathleen McCoombs is an experienced special education and learning support professional with over 26 years in education since 2000. She recently signed paperwork to serve as a K-2 resource teacher and has supported school and public library services as the academic nighttime librarian at St. George's School since 2018. Her background includes teaching in the U.S. and internationally as a Learning Support Teacher at Vienna International School in Austria for one year. She holds a Master of Arts in elementary education, elementary special education, and secondary special education from Johnson and Wales, along with a B.A. in journalism and communications from UMass Amherst. Her experience combines special education, elementary and secondary teaching, transition work, library services, and communications. She began her career as a journalism communications major at UMass Amherst and worked in television and advertising before entering education through substitute teaching, which led to her pursuing a master's degree and international teaching opportunities.
