About Kathleen
Kathleen Yanke is a dedicated educator and lifelong advocate for student growth whose career in education spans more than two decades. With 20 years of experience in the education field, including 13 years as a classroom teacher, she has taught English language arts, social studies, and most recently spent six years inspiring middle school students as an 8th grade science teacher. Known for her hands-on, real-world approach to learning, Yanke strives to make education engaging, meaningful, and relevant while creating a classroom where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to reach their full potential. She currently holds endorsements in English, Social Studies, and Science, along with an administrative license and evaluator certification, and is exploring future opportunities in educational leadership or teaching high school English.
Yanke's path to education reflects perseverance and a deep commitment to lifelong learning. After raising her children, she pursued her teaching credentials through an accelerated adult education program, earning her degrees while maintaining a record of academic excellence. Beyond the classroom, she served on a local school board for 16 years, helping shape educational policy and advocate for students, families, and educators. She also devoted 11 years to serving at a pregnancy resource center as an abstinence educator, equipping young people with knowledge and encouraging healthy life choices. As a member of both the Honor Society for Education and Phi Theta Kappa, Yanke continues to embrace professional growth and the pursuit of knowledge.
Currently taking a planned mental health and recovery year following spine surgery, Yanke remains committed to education and is thoughtfully preparing for the next chapter of her career. Her passion extends beyond academics to mentoring students, fostering resilience, and serving as a trusted adult who listens with compassion and integrity. She believes today's educators must balance innovation with traditional learning methods while adapting to the evolving needs of students. Grounded in faith, lifelong learning, and a heart for service, Yanke continues to make a lasting impact through her dedication to education, leadership, and the belief that every student deserves the opportunity to succeed.

01What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I encourage young women entering education to look at the bigger picture and understand that teaching today extends far beyond delivering lessons. Educators are expected to guide, mentor, and prepare students for life while managing many responsibilities, so it’s important to enter the profession with realistic expectations, remain adaptable, and stay committed to continuous learning.
02What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide my work and personal life are faith, lifelong learning, integrity, service, and compassion. I believe in supporting others, building meaningful relationships, advocating for students and families, and approaching every opportunity with a commitment to growth, purpose, and making a positive difference in the lives of those I serve.
