I started my career in the service industry, working in a restaurant where I began as a host and worked my way up to management—learning every role from busser to dishwasher to expo along the way. That experience built a strong foundation in communication, adaptability, and understanding people, which has carried with me throughout my career.

I later transitioned into a temp agency as a front desk receptionist, but quickly found myself drawn to recruiting. As I listened to candidates call in and learned more about open roles, I naturally started connecting people to opportunities—even before I officially had the title. Seeing how excited candidates were when they found the right fit is what made me realize recruiting was exactly what I wanted to do.

For over two years, I worked with Genesis HealthCare, where I managed full-cycle recruitment for clinical and leadership roles across multiple healthcare centers. I partnered closely with leadership teams to support hiring strategies, build strong teams, and contribute to a positive culture that directly impacts patient and resident care. I focused on creating meaningful candidate experiences—taking the time to understand each person’s goals, what environments they thrive in, and guiding them through the process with transparency and support.

I’ve since transitioned into a Recruiter role with Powerback Rehabilitation, where I’m continuing to build on that foundation—connecting healthcare professionals with opportunities in rehab and wellness services, and helping teams grow with the right talent.

What drives me most is building genuine relationships and being part of those moments when someone finds not just a job, but the right fit.

Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to the strong support system I’ve built throughout my career—friends, family, and colleagues who have believed in me and opened doors along the way. I’ve been fortunate to have people who saw my potential early on and took a chance on me, which has played a meaningful role in my growth.

At the same time, I’ve worked hard to build genuine relationships and maintain those connections, which has continued to create new opportunities—like the role I’m in today, where I was able to reconnect and work alongside a former colleague.

That combination of support, trust, and relationship-building has been a key driver in where I am today.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I've ever received was to lean on your coworkers. One of my old bosses always said, we're here, lean on your team, and no matter what you need from them or questions you have, please ask. Always be willing to help and train. Having that good boss who was always there to support you and who you could always lean on and go to has definitely helped me, even though that's not someone I'm reporting to anymore. I know that as a team, it's always nice to have that open communication, especially with colleagues, and making people comfortable. I don't think I would have been like that if my boss was never like, I'm here, just please lean on me. Knowing that just made the job a lot more comfortable and enjoyable, and now when I'm training new people, I let them know I'm here for them no matter what, which takes a big weight off.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Build relationships, not just resumes. Stay organized, communicate clearly, and don’t be afraid to advocate for yourself—confidence and consistency will take you far in this field.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is definitely staffing and burnout—it’s fast-paced and always changing. But the opportunity is huge! There’s so much room to make an impact, build strong teams, and truly connect the right people to the right roles.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Relationships, integrity, and consistency. I value showing up for people, whether it’s my family, my team, or candidates, and doing what I say I’m going to do. I also really value growth, balance, and creating a life that feels both meaningful and aligned.
