Kathryn Minikus is an experienced cardiovascular nurse practitioner with more than 17 years in healthcare and nearly a decade of specialized expertise in cardiovascular medicine. As an Advanced Practice Nurse with the Advanced Heart and Vascular Institute of Hunterdon, she provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with cardiovascular and vascular diseases. Her clinical expertise includes performing advanced vascular procedures, managing complex patient care plans, and delivering evidence-based treatment focused on improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
Throughout her career, Kathryn has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular care. In addition to treating patients, she oversees a vascular laboratory that supports critical diagnostic services and limb-saving interventions for individuals with vascular disease. 01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to just wanting to be the best nurse practitioner for the patients that I do take care of, to give them the best possible outcomes.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I have ever received is to just keep going, just trying to be better every single day. I was told to always be looking for more educational opportunities and to be passionate about what I do.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would tell young women entering this field to never lose sight of their goals and passions, despite whatever obstacles and barriers they face, personally and professionally. It's okay to be selfish.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges in my field right now are navigating the current healthcare system, as far as insurance and being able to provide patients the care they deserve without obstacles, financial obstacles, and access to medications and treatments for them.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values most important to me in my work and personal life are my work ethic. I'm very dedicated to what I do. Honesty and transparency are also critical to me, as well as compassion.
