Ten minutes with Kathy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to never giving up. When I first started, I doubted myself and felt like I wasn’t the most capable person in the field, but I quickly realized that my curiosity and willingness to learn were my greatest strengths. My persistence and desire for knowledge carried me through every stage of my career.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I ever received was: “You don’t ever want to win the battle and lose the war.” This advice helped me understand the importance of long-term perspective in decision-making and career growth.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering the optical industry is to absorb as much knowledge as possible. The more you learn, the more powerful and confident you become in your profession. Continuous learning is the key to long-term success.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest opportunities in the optical field right now is the advancement of myopia control lenses, which are transforming patient care. A continuing challenge, particularly in my region, is adapting to environmental and weather-related conditions that impact daily operations.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Christian values are the foundation of my personal and professional life. My faith guides my decisions, my leadership style, and the way I approach both work and relationships.
