Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kathy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I stay focused and resilient, remain eager to learn, and consistently push forward with a goal-driven mindset. Do what you love to do!

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I’ve received is to write my own narrative, stand tall and proud, and never allow myself to be intimidated by others. I strive to make a difference each day while treating everyone with kindness and respect. Early on in the competitive business of real estate I was told by a coach to treat your business like a business. If a prospective client did not sell their home after months on the market - you want to be one of the agents they interview! Initially I worried about stepping on someone's toes. I found that I was really good at selling properties others failed to do....and my favorite advice "Do What you Love and Delegate the rest!"

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Never stop learning. I encourage young women to support and uplift one another, lead by example, and bring positivity to their teams. Enroll in industry seminars and classes. Don't be afraid to borrow ideas from someone outside your market and brand yourself so you stand out in your market. Learn from the best and take what resonates with you, and put your own creativity into it. The energy and encouragement you give to others will often come back to you. Think outside the box when branding your business and when finding solutions.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest opportunities in my field are continuing to support branding and build successful real estate offices and top-performing agent teams through recruiting, marketing, event planning, and one-on-one coaching. In the last year or two the market has shifted and home affordability is a challenge for some first time buyers looking to enter the market. I decided to change my focus to making a difference by sharing my ideas and challenges in my Upcoming Book - "What Not To Do In Real Estate - Skip the Hard Lessons"

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

The values most important to me are integrity, honesty, kindness, and transparency. I believe in being authentically myself, advocating for my own needs, and knowing my worth while treating others with respect. Make time for family, friends, spirituality, travel, good food and fun!
