Kathy Naraghi is President of WelComm, Inc., a specialized public relations firm serving the engineering industry with a focus on electrical, power, and ceramic engineering. With more than three decades of experience spanning advertising, public relations, financial management, and business operations, she has built a reputation for helping technical organizations effectively communicate complex innovations to industry audiences. After beginning her career in New York City's advertising industry, Kathy advanced through leadership roles including Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer before assuming the presidency of WelComm in 2024. She also serves as Manager of Global Advertising Sales for the IEEE Power Electronics & Electrification Magazines, strengthening connections across the global engineering community.

Throughout her career, Kathy has combined strategic business leadership with deep expertise in public relations and marketing for highly technical industries. Her work focuses on building strong relationships between engineering organizations, media outlets, and industry stakeholders to elevate innovation and thought leadership. She is actively involved with several respected professional organizations, including the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS), the Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC), and the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA), where she contributes to advancing collaboration and communication within the engineering profession.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kathy

01What do you attribute your success to?

Hardworking, taking on projects, asking for help when I need it, and just being accountable for everything.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Work hard, be absorbed into the company to figure out everything they need to know, learn by doing, and step up to the plate if they make a mistake. I always did that. I made a mistake, I will fix it and move forward.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

Going up against AI and Copilot, because a lot of the clients are starting to write their own press releases, but they still need editing services because AI and co-pilot aren't exactly accurate on certain things.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Relationships and accountability.
