Her Story

About Kathy

Kathy Pistoresi is the Co-Owner of Thrive Culture Partners, LLC, a corporate wellness company based in Bakersfield, California, that she launched in October 2025 to bring her decades of fitness expertise to organizations at scale. Drawing on more than 42 years running her own business, Physique Fitness Therapy, she shifted from one-on-one work as a fitness therapist and personal trainer into designing company-wide wellness initiatives, including a signature 6-Week Better You Challenge, a wearable watch app, and website-based training that reach employees across entire organizations. Through Thrive Culture Partners, she now partners with teams in Houston and San Antonio to help organizations tackle burnout, absenteeism, and work-life balance through practical coaching and education.

Pistoresi's academic path was shaped more by hands-on experience than formal credentials: she attended Traverse City High School in Michigan, studied briefly at the college level with a focus on computers without completing a degree, and later pursued coursework in business, management, and marketing at California State University, Bakersfield. She has offset this with continual professional development, holding multiple certifications built up over four decades in the fitness and wellness field. She is also a published author, having written "20 Minutes to Live," a firsthand account of surviving a severe asthma attack and the coma that followed, and she has been selected for recognition among Influential Women representing Bakersfield for 2026.

Beyond her business, Pistoresi is active in her community through the Republican Women's Organization, Influencers Global Ministries, and her local church, where she leads Bible studies and volunteers with the IT team. She credits her success to her faith, describing her abilities as gifts from God that she has worked hard to use wisely, a value her mother instilled in her early on. Guided by perseverance, courage, and gratitude, she now channels her experience into helping the next generation of wellness professionals understand their own worth and focus on the root causes behind their clients' needs, rather than treating symptoms alone.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Kathy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God, who gave me the gifts I needed to succeed. I made it a point to work hard and use those gifts wisely, a lesson my mother instilled in me when she told me never to waste the talents I'd been given.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

Early in my career, someone asked me how much I thought I was worth. That question led me to charge more than anyone else in town, and when no one objected, it gave me the confidence to keep growing. I've come to believe that in God's eyes, we are worth everything.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I encourage them to start by asking who they are and what they're worth, then decide what kind of clients they truly want to serve. Success in this field comes down to how well you can research and understand people, because it's less about prescribing exercises and more about uncovering what someone really needs.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is finding companies genuinely committed to building a culture of wellness. At the same time, I see real opportunity as CEOs my age retire and are replaced by a younger generation of leaders in their thirties and forties who are already fit themselves and understand the value wellness brings to a company.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Faith, perseverance, courage, and an attitude of gratitude guide everything I do. I don't believe you can run a business or truly serve people well without gratitude at the center of it.
