About Katie
Katie Briskie serves as the event sales manager at American Flatbread in Brighton, Massachusetts, where she manages events ranging from 16 to 280 guests. Her responsibilities include building client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact from initial pricing through contracting, menu planning, setup, and event execution, while also focusing on community outreach such as hosting Benefit Bakes every Tuesday night to support local nonprofits. She attributes her success to years of growth in the hospitality industry, where she started shy but developed confidence through strong management and team support, combined with the venue's excellent space featuring organic wood-fired flatbreads and candlepin bowling lanes. Briskie graduated from Suffolk University in 2016 with a marketing major and public relations minor. She is currently a board member of the YMCA in Oak Square, Brighton, Massachusetts, and is working toward her certified meeting planner credential.

01What do you attribute your success to?
I think it comes with a combination. I've been in hospitality since I was young, spent more than half my life in this industry, and when I very first started, I couldn't look people in the eye because I was so shy. Throughout the years, I've had a lot of great management, great directors and team that have really helped me grow and feel more confident in myself to be able to sell the space and build those client relationships. I could not have done any of the work I've done throughout the years without a strong team behind me. It's a combination of growth, confidence, and knowing that we have an excellent space.
