Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to the incredible people I have had the privilege of working alongside throughout my career. I have been fortunate to be surrounded by talented, dedicated, and collaborative teams who share a commitment to achieving meaningful results together. I truly love what I do, and I believe success comes from creating an environment where people are motivated by purpose, teamwork, and the opportunity to make an impact rather than seeking individual recognition. Working with individuals who are passionate, hardworking, and genuinely enjoy what they do has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my professional journey.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering the industry to embrace hard work, remain patient, and be intentional about the choices they make throughout their careers. Success requires both mental energy and a willingness to make sacrifices, invest time, and continuously develop new skills. Sometimes the right opportunity may take longer than expected, and that may mean having the confidence to say no to roles that do not align with your long-term goals. It is also important to recognize that growth does not always come from moving straight up; sometimes taking a lateral move can provide valuable experience, broaden your skill set, and create opportunities to gain exposure in new areas. Stay open to learning, trust your journey, and focus on building the experiences that will help you reach your goals.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenges and opportunities in the industry right now come from the continued volatility of the market and the rapid pace of change. Factors such as tariffs, broader economic shifts, and evolving consumer shopping behaviors, especially online, are creating an environment that requires businesses to remain agile and adaptable. It is important to stay flexible, embrace change, and avoid becoming too attached to past strategies or processes simply because they have worked before. The ability to continuously learn, adjust, and respond to new opportunities will be essential for navigating the future of the industry and driving long-term success.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are discipline, commitment, teamwork, and giving back to the community. My lifelong involvement in athletics and competitive sports, including competing in gymnastics through college and later coaching and judging, instilled in me the importance of dedication, perseverance, and continuous growth. These values continue to guide how I approach leadership, collaboration, and personal relationships. I remain passionate about supporting youth sports and volunteering within local schools, and I am especially proud of PUMA’s partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, which connects our 130 retail stores with local clubs to encourage employee volunteerism and strengthen community engagement. I believe that creating a positive impact extends beyond professional achievements and comes from investing in and supporting the communities around us.
