Her Story
About Katie
Katie Haynes works as a delivery driver for Amazon in Plank, Texas, a role she has held for almost three years while also working at Sonic. She is currently pursuing a certificate in Controlled Sustainable Urban Agriculture, inspired by her family's involvement in the environmental sector, and intends to transition into greenhouse work, potentially at the Dallas Arboretum or Homegrown plant. In high school, Haynes initially aspired to become a chemical engineer like her papa but shifted focus to sustainability. Working in a male-dominated field at Amazon, she has trained five or six other women and emphasizes the importance of not letting anyone make you feel small or incapable. Haynes values helping others and empathy, encouraging people to put themselves in others' shoes, and she stresses standing up for oneself by addressing degrading comments rather than letting them go unaddressed. She advises young women to keep things light, laugh at themselves, and make a big deal out of small things to progress and set boundaries.
