Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katie
01What do you attribute your success to?
Success looks different to everyone. For me, it's all about love. Loving every aspect of your life, from where you live, to who you are, to the people around you, and the work that you do.
I would not be where I am today without the incredible people in my life, but a lesson I’ve learned is that while people can support you, encourage you, and open doors for you, they cannot do the inner work for you. Your ability to master your mind is what will ultimately get you to that next level of success.
Recently, I went through a season in my career that brought me to rock bottom. And what got me through it was changing my mindset, taking accountability for the things that were holding me down, and finding a purpose that was bigger than myself. The day I realized the power of my thoughts, everything changed!
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career (and life) advice I’ve ever received is that you are not a victim of your circumstance; that you are much more powerful than you think. If you are unhappy with your job, your boss, your pay, or the direction your life is going, blaming someone will not change the situation. In many cases, it only keeps you stuck, and I had to learn that lesson the hard way. Only you can change your reality. That starts with trusting your gut, believing in what is possible for you, and taking courageous steps toward the life/career you want for yourself. Nobody else is going to do it for you.
Also, Chris Walker's advice to quit drinking. No alcohol has been a game-changer for my career and life!
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
I would advise young women entering my industry to:
- Believe in yourself. I think as women, we can really struggle with imposter syndrome, but trusting that you can do anything you set your mind to is the ultimate superpower.
- Stay curious, think independently, and don't rely on AI to do everything for you. While AI is a powerful tool that can enhance your work, overdependence on it is noticeable and can limit your growth. Developing your own judgment, skills, and voice is what truly sets you apart.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
The biggest challenge in my field is the speed of change. AI is transforming marketing, business, and the world so quickly that it can be hard for people to know where to start. But that also creates a huge opportunity! We have the chance to help people use these tools in ways that support their goals, strengthen their confidence, and make their work more meaningful. I believe AI should help people access more of their own potential, not make them feel replaced by technology.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Faith - My belief in God has transformed my life in ways I never could have imagined. It has helped me to slow down and really know myself, it has given me so much gratitude for my life and the incredible people around me, and has given me purpose to be a better version of myself every day. I believe everyone, in business and in life, needs a “why.” Mine is rooted in my love for God.
Connection - My family, friends, and partner mean everything to me. I am surrounded by so much love and genuinely kind, funny people, and that to me is what life is all about.
Serving Others - I believe kindness has a cascading effect. The way we treat people, support people, and show up for people matters more than we often realize. At the end of the day, I believe we are here to use our gifts to help others, especially those who need it most. That is the value I try to carry into my life, my work, and the mission behind Resonant.
