Katie Mikita

Katie Mikita serves as a multilingual or English learner specialist at the elementary level in a district position, where she teaches English language development classes while ensuring students maintain connections to their culture. With a background as an English major from Kent State University, she earned a TEFL certificate and a bachelor's degree in teaching English as a second language from the same institution. After beginning her career working with adults and later transitioning to K-12 education, she founded TSOL Katie approximately five years ago to address the broader needs of international families, including tutoring, navigating healthcare and legal systems, finding community resources, and supporting visa and employment matters. Now in her 18th year in the field, she continues her full-time teaching role while providing consulting and coaching services to schools and families through her company, often collaborating with her husband and volunteers.
