Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katie
01What do you attribute your success to?
I would attribute my success definitely to my parents, God, and having faith in myself and surrounding myself with people that had faith in me.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
If you are truly passionate about something, you will find a way to make it happen.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
It gets easier. You just have to learn how to compartmentalize and stick to what's doing the best for the patient and best practices and finding a really good support team outside of work and finding a good mentor.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Biggest challenges is definitely learning to communicate effectively with physicians and communicate gracefully with family of patients. The biggest opportunity is providing the sense of security in the health field for the patient's family so that they know when something truly is wrong versus someone else freaking out for no reason. It builds a lot of trust.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Keeping a good moral compass. Making sure you're always doing what's right. Doing the right thing instead of the easy thing. Doing what's best for the patient.
