Her Story

About Katie

She is a thoughtful process and design consultant with a unique ability to bridge the gap between executive vision and frontline reality, currently operating Sunshiny Consulting, LLC. Through her signature process, Business Therapy™, she helps businesses identify systemic friction, formalize emergent workflows, and co-design flexible solutions that scale—working closely with employees at all levels to understand the system as a whole. She also works as a freelance UX Researcher and Designer, driving user engagement and stakeholder satisfaction through deep discovery, user research, and inclusive design validation. Prior to consulting, she served as System Analyst IV at Disability Determination Services, where she developed Standard Operating Procedures, managed cross-functional projects, built automated MicroStrategy reports for senior leadership, and bridged the gap between outdated data practices and modern analytics solutions. She also served as a Disability Claims Examiner, adjudicating claims and managing 120–200 active cases with accuracy and efficiency. Earlier in her career, she worked as Lead Bartender at Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas and as a Student Worker for the Provost at Hendrix College, where she studied. She is recognized as a curious, empathetic, and systems-thinking professional who combines design, data, and people-centered approaches to create meaningful organizational change.
