Her Story

About Katie

I've been in my field for over 15 years, and my career has taken me through many different facets of marketing and creative work. After completing my undergrad and MBA, I went into the agency side, working with dozens of clients ranging from startups to B2B and B2C brands. I eventually gathered my own clientele and ran my own business before being offered a position as a fractional CMO and VP of Marketing. From there, I transitioned to a different agency in a more creative-focused role, which is where I am now as Creative Director. In my current role, I lead an entire creative department of designers, copywriters, and managers, working with upwards of 20-plus clients a day. I oversee all website design and creative asset designs for emails, ads, and more, managing a team of about 20 people. What makes me particularly unique in the marketing space is that I have that creative ideation always behind everything I'm doing. Whether it's a fractional CMO role or a creative director position, I've always brought that creative insight and eye to everything and every role I've been a part of. I'm definitely more happy and feeling more fulfilled in a creative director role.

Ten minutes with Katie

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think what makes me particularly unique in the marketing space is just the fact that I have that creative ideation always behind everything I'm doing. Whether it is a fractional CMO role or a creative director position, I've always brought that creative insight and eye to everything and every role that I've been a part of. I'm definitely more happy and feeling more fulfilled in a creative director role, but I've always brought that creative perspective to all my work. I've been creative for over 20 years, including my photography work, so that creative foundation has been central to my success across all the different roles I've taken on.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Definitely take on challenging roles, regardless of maybe your lack of experience thus far. A lot of the roles that I've accepted have been presented to me before I feel exactly comfortable, per se, in said role, but it's allowed me to really learn and expand my knowledge. I don't believe that you ever are an expert in anything. There's always room for growth, learning, especially with our world now with AI, it's ever-evolving, and it's very fast, so never stop educating and stepping into those challenging roles.
