Ten minutes with Katina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to God, my mom who supported me, and my rewarding experience as a special agent that has led me to my path today.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
A previous mentor who was a special agent said be professional, be authentic, be humble, be honest and own your mistakes, ask for help and then pass that on to someone else. Don't hoard your knowledge and experiences, share them.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
In the criminal justice field and public service it's a big world but also a very small world and in one way or another you will cross paths with one another so be respectful and authentic as they could be your supervisor or pull you over some day, come from a place of love and work on yourself.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
Emotionally and mentally going into prisons and speaking with women who are incarcerated and were abused or addicted to drugs.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
Authenticity, loyalty, and honesty all these values come from love and you then exude love.
