About Katiuska
My legal journey began in Venezuela where I earned my law degree and practiced for about 7 years before moving to Spain. In Spain, I obtained a master's in International Law and Practice and worked as a legal intern in a law firm for one year. I've now been in the U.S. for about 10 years, where I earned my LLM and have been practicing as an attorney for 4 years, focusing primarily on litigation. In Venezuela and Spain, I had the opportunity to do both litigation and transactional work, and I genuinely enjoy both the negotiation and drafting aspects as well as the litigation side. I'm currently in an exciting transition period, leaving my law firm at the end of July to pursue an in-house position. Additionally, I'm completing my final year of online law school in Spain to obtain my law degree there, which will allow me to be considered a lawyer in Spain as well. I'm also a member of the New York City Bar Association, where I serve on the Miscellaneous and Special Laws Committee and was Secretary of the European Affairs Committee for 2 years before stepping down to be a regular member. I'm passionate about mindfulness and well-being, which I discovered during law school here when I started meditating and doing yoga. I'm also learning Japanese and hope to eventually work in the anime and manga business market. As I look to the future, I'm keeping myself open to opportunities, whether that means staying in New York, moving to California, or even returning to Spain to live in Europe.

01What do you attribute your success to?
Honestly, there's a quote that says, 'seek what sets your heart on fire,' and I believe that. My life is about trying to do things that I want, so if tomorrow I'm no longer here, at least I'm going happy and knowing that I did my best in my life. If I feel like a pull to do something, I try to do it. This year I'm trying to commit to doing different things every month, because you're always putting things off saying 'I don't have the time for this.' But I'm finding this year, at least to commit one day to do one activity. I did rock climbing, I did archery. I tried painting last year. I try to do something different, something that makes me happy. I guess my life is mostly about following my heart and doing things that I want to do, and I think that's the idea, not much about how people perceive you. It's about how fulfilled you feel. Even if it's something small and silly, I think you can be successful in any environment you apply yourself to.
