About Katrina

I am an Army veteran who has been working with nonprofits and government roles for about 15 years, assisting the community with child care services. I am also a minister running Women Who Win in Christ ministry, which conducts prayer brunches and is hosting its first conference called Women Who Win in Christ, the Gathering at the Well in September. I recently published the second issue of Women Who Win in Christ magazine available at Barnes & Noble and Amazon, and last year published a children's book called A Happy Heart also at Barnes & Noble. I have a 9-to-5 job assisting the public with public assistance and am finishing my associate's degree in Business Administration this December.

Ten minutes with Katrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to God. Absolutely. That's a no-brainer for me. I attribute that to the Lord Jesus, who I put my faith in, and who is my Savior. Because I know when I pray and the Lord hears me, He answers my prayers. He covers me, protects me, never leaves me. And he guides me, and so I just, thank God for everything. And especially getting me through that time in my life when my dad was critically ill.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

When I was in the military, I had a major. She used to... I used to work for a one-star general. And this one advice that she had given me was... Whenever you make a decision. You don't just make that decision for yourself. But it affects everyone around you. And I don't know why, but that really stuck with me. She said that every decision you make not only affects you, but it affects everyone around you. And that caused me to... Be more conscious? Of how I make a decision? And also be more conscious of how my decisions will not only affect my life. But it would affect the lives of those that are around me.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Find out who you are. from a Christian perspective in Christ? Your life has more value than you think. Never give up. And keep pressing forward. Because a lot of people don't think that they're worth anything. A lot of people, especially, you know, women, have such a low understanding of Your value. You know, God created you to give life. You know, that is amazing. You know, He created you to be creative.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge in my field of work As far as the 9-to-5 or the non-profit? I would probably say time. Not having enough time. Seems like sometimes time just gets away from you.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I would say ethical, number one, having ethical values. And those values would consist of being honest, trustworthy. Keeping your word, I think that's a big thing for me. It's just being able to keep my words. I strive to keep my word, because I know, if I give my word to someone, I strive to keep my word. So I think, you know, keeping your word is a big thing.
