Q

What do you attribute your success to?

I attribute my success to a learner’s mindset and a willingness to embrace new technologies. Early in my career, I introduced pay-per-click for an agency before it was widely recognized and gained hands-on experience with ABM by seizing opportunities to learn. I believe in learning by doing, staying curious, and not being afraid to fail—approaches that have driven my growth in the digital space.

Q

What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

The best career advice I received was, “Katrina, you speak in hieroglyphics.” It taught me the importance of storytelling—translating complex work into language leadership can understand. Storytelling, paired with commercial awareness, is key to gaining support and proving the value of your initiatives.

Q

What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

My advice to young women entering this industry is to learn the commercial and financial language—it’s not enough to be digitally competent; you need to communicate value to sales and finance. Stay curious, embrace new trends and tools, and don’t be afraid to get hands-on with data. Most importantly, don’t fear failure—learning by doing is the only way to grow in this space.

Q

What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

One of the biggest challenges in my field is driving digital transformation and MarTech adoption in large, traditionally oriented organizations, where legacy approaches and complex decision-making units persist. The biggest opportunity lies in building integrated tech stacks—combining CRM, marketing automation, and ABM—to enable modern demand generation and sales enablement.

Q

What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Supporting women in the workplace is central to my work—I founded Shell’s PowerHer Up Network to help B2B women in technical sales and marketing connect, grow, and share knowledge. In my personal life, animal welfare is my passion; my husband and I have fostered over 150 dogs through our channel, House of Misfit Mutts. I also value mentoring, especially hands-on learning, because true growth comes from diving in and taking ownership.
