Her Interview
Ten minutes with Katrina
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to remaining faithful, confident, and trusting in the gifts and talents I have been given. Styling comes naturally to me, and even when I work with clients who are hesitant, lack confidence, or initially disagree with my selections, I stay committed to the vision I have for them. I view challenges as part of the process and work collaboratively with each client to help them see their potential while remaining true to my professional instincts. By trusting the process, staying persistent, and never wavering in my belief in what is possible, I consistently achieve results that exceed expectations and create meaningful transformations for my clients.
02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering this industry is to be patient, persistent, and strategic. In the beginning, keep your full-time job while building your business on the side, as services like personal styling are often considered discretionary and demand can fluctuate. Focus on growing your client base steadily until your business can reliably support your lifestyle before making the transition to full-time entrepreneurship. Most importantly, don't give up—continue putting yourself out there by attending networking events, speaking at industry gatherings, and consistently promoting your business. Be a walking representation of your brand by presenting yourself professionally and confidently. You don't need to be driven by labels or appearances, but people should be able to see that you embody the value and expertise you offer.
03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest challenges in my field is that personal styling is often viewed as a discretionary service, which means client demand can fluctuate based on economic conditions and disposable income. At the same time, I see tremendous opportunities for innovation within the fashion industry. One area that is often overlooked is creating well-fitting, stylish wide-leg trousers for women with fuller hips. Recognizing this gap in the market, I am developing my first collection to provide more inclusive and flattering options that meet the needs of women who have struggled to find the right fit.
04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that are most important to me in both my work and personal life are faith, confidence, family, and service. I strive to remain faithful to the gifts God has given me and to use them with purpose and confidence in everything I do. Family is at the center of my life, providing the foundation for my decisions and priorities. I am also deeply committed to serving others through my church and community involvement, believing that true success comes not only from personal achievement but from making a positive impact on the lives of those around me.
