About Katrina

Katrina Lyon is a senior level management professional and operations consultant based in Las Vegas, NV. She recently launched her consulting company, Strategic Solutions, where she focuses on healthcare operations, transforming dysfunctional companies into functional ones, and helping organizations manage teams across different generations. A self-made leader, she worked her way from customer service roles through every level of healthcare, including insurance, referrals, front desk, medical assistants, clinical work, provider relations, and selling sleep labs to hospitals. She designed Archwell from the beginning and created its standard operating procedures. Lyon attributes her success to never giving up and knowing her self-worth, always pushing to learn difficult skills until they become second nature. She values integrity, empathy, accountability, and loyalty above all, with accountability as the foundation for everything else. As a Black woman in healthcare, she has navigated challenges in a boys club environment where it can be difficult to be seen, taken seriously, or promoted to roles like CFO despite her contributions. She advises young women entering the field to learn everything from front to back, lead with empathy, know their why rooted in passion for helping people rather than money, and never take no for an answer.

Her Interview

Ten minutes with Katrina

01What do you attribute your success to?

I would contribute my success to never giving up. And I know my self-worth. So anything that seems difficult, I'm gonna learn it so that it's no longer difficult. Being a self-made manager ops knowing every different levels of every part of healthcare, from insurance, to referrals, to front desk, to MAs, to clinical, to provider relations, to selling $100,000 sleep labs into hospitals, is because I refuse to ever give up on growing.

02What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

I would tell her to learn everything from the front to the back. Lead with empathy. And know your why to what you want to get into healthcare, because healthcare is not a moneymaker. You're not only people making really good money is CFOs, CEOs. You have to do it because this is your passion, and you care about people. I would tell that girl, don't do it if you think the money's gonna be there. Do it because you want to help others. And never take no for an answer.

03What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

It's hard to be seen as a woman in healthcare still. Hard to get in those CFO jobs. It's hard to be taken serious. It's a boys club. There's opportunity in healthcare is giving more women the opportunity to use their voice. Because not only do we know how to multitask. The opportunity is to give more women the opportunity to show you who they are in healthcare.

04What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

Integrity, empathy, accountability, loyalty. But accountability is the main one. If you can have accountability in your life, then everything else will follow.
