Her Interview

Ten minutes with Katy

01What do you attribute your success to?

I think just being consistent. There are so many times, like, I think the door has been closed. But it doesn't necessarily mean that it's always closed.

02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?

I had a really great boss at the City of Dallas. Don't let people rock you. Be steady for the people around you. So if you get into a conference and maybe they don't understand, you don't need to get emotional or anxious by that. Especially if you know the information and the status and everything.

03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?

Just always stay reading, always, you know, you gotta keep up with that spark of what keeps you inspired to work in this particular field.

04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?

The biggest challenge is people moving over to AI automation. It's a difficult challenge, reminding people that my services and other services are still needed because something doesn't necessarily have a human voice and has problems with creating the right tone for business at times. There are always opportunities opening up. There are always edits and ways things need to be changed communicatively, even if you can't see those opportunities at the moment.

05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?

I think having compassion.
