Her Story

About Kayla

Kayla Dones is an investigative field reporter who founded her business, The Protagonist. The company works with nonprofits and corporate clients to uncover valuable information happening in real time. This includes field reporting and the human intelligence side of operations through Humant, where she and her team go into the field rather than relying solely on desk work. Her journey in this field started around 11 years ago after taking an online course called Change Media University, created by journalist Luke Rakowski to teach people how to become citizen journalists. From there, she worked her way up and was hired as lead investigative journalist for James O'Keefe, founder of Project Veritas. In that role, she ran multi-state investigations during the border crisis covering California, Arizona, Texas, and New York, with the resulting content featured in a film now on the Tucker Carlson Network.
