Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kayla
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to a combination of curiosity, perseverance, and a willingness to keep learning. I’ve never had a perfectly linear path, but each challenge and opportunity has helped me grow both personally and professionally. Rather than focusing on where I think I should be, I’ve learned to focus on continuous improvement and taking the next step forward.
I also believe that success is rarely achieved alone. The support of mentors, colleagues, friends, and family has played an important role in my journey, and I’m grateful for the people who have encouraged me along the way. Ultimately, I believe success comes from staying curious, remaining adaptable, and continuing to move forward even when the destination isn’t fully in sight.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I’ve ever received was, “You don’t have to have everything figured out to move forward.”
For a long time, I believed successful people had a clear roadmap from the beginning. As my career progressed, I realized that many of the opportunities that shaped me most came from taking chances, staying open to change, and being willing to learn something new. My path has taken me through sales, banking, customer success, market intelligence, and software engineering, and each experience has contributed to the professional I am today.
That advice reminds me that growth doesn’t come from having all the answers. It comes from taking the next step, staying curious, and trusting that each experience will teach you something valuable along the way.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice to young women entering technology is simple: don’t count yourself out before you’ve even started.
It’s easy to look at an industry filled with experts and assume everyone else knows more than you do. What I’ve learned is that success in technology isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about being curious enough to keep learning and resilient enough to keep going when things feel challenging.
Technology needs more diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas. Don’t underestimate the value of what you bring to the table. Be willing to ask questions, take chances, and pursue opportunities that interest you, even if they feel a little outside your comfort zone. You may be surprised by what you’re capable of achieving.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the biggest opportunities in my field right now is the growing role of technology and artificial intelligence in helping organizations make smarter, faster decisions. In procurement and supply chain management, access to data, market intelligence, and predictive insights is transforming the way businesses evaluate suppliers, manage risk, and identify opportunities for efficiency and innovation.
At the same time, one of the biggest challenges is navigating the pace of change. Organizations are being presented with more data and technology than ever before, but turning that information into meaningful action requires both technical capability and human judgment. The ability to balance innovation with strategy, ethics, and business goals has become increasingly important.
I believe the greatest opportunity lies in helping bridge the gap between technology and decision-making. As AI and analytics continue to evolve, there will be a growing need for professionals who can translate complex information into actionable insights that create value, drive better outcomes, and help organizations adapt to an increasingly dynamic business environment.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that guide me most are authenticity, creativity, and growth. I’ve learned that life rarely goes exactly as planned, so I’ve tried to stay open to new experiences while remaining true to who I am. Some of the most meaningful opportunities in my life have come from taking chances, learning new skills, and stepping outside of my comfort zone.
I also believe in treating people with kindness and leading with empathy. No matter where life or my career takes me, I want to be someone who encourages others, supports the people around me, and leaves things a little better than I found them.
At the end of the day, I want to continue learning, creating, and evolving. Whether through technology, art, or simply helping someone discover new possibilities, I hope to make a positive impact and contribute something meaningful to the people and communities around me.
