Her Interview
Ten minutes with Kayla
01What do you attribute your success to?
I attribute my success to growing up in an environment where many people doubted my potential. Those experiences motivated me to continually prove to myself, and to others, that I was capable of achieving more. That determination has carried into my professional life, driving me to work hard, continuously improve, and set an example that makes my children proud.
02What’s the best career advice you’ve ever received?
The best career advice I've received is to never doubt myself or allow others to diminish my value. I've learned to stand my ground, advocate for myself, recognize when I'm being taken advantage of, and remember that there is always another opportunity for growth because the career ladder never truly ends.
03What advice would you give to young women entering your industry?
My advice is to believe in yourself, even when things feel intimidating. Don't let self-doubt hold you back. Be willing to take opportunities, knowing that the worst outcome may simply be hearing "no." Trust your instincts, rely on yourself, continue moving forward, and have confidence in your abilities.
04What are the biggest challenges or opportunities in your field right now?
One of the greatest challenges, and opportunities, in banking is recognizing that every client and every business is different. Success comes from learning how to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, adapting your approach to meet their individual needs, and building meaningful relationships based on trust and understanding.
05What values are most important to you in your work and personal life?
The values that matter most to me are authenticity, perseverance, and self-respect. I believe in remaining true to who I am rather than changing myself to fit someone else's expectations. I also believe in standing up for myself, demonstrating what I know through my actions, and approaching every challenge with resilience and determination.
